Best Practise on Pellet Technology

Case studies regarding production, consumption and distribution of pellets were collected from the partner of the European Pellet Centre project and the summaries of these 27 case studies are displayed and described under the section case stories.  By carefully studying these good case stories a number of examples has been selected as best practice examples. The aim of this is to help overcome obstacles when new sites are developed. The experiences provide valuable information for all new actors on the pellet market.

The criteria for the selection of good practice were chosen by considering both technical as well as non-technical pellets project parameters for the three groups production, consumption and logistic.

For the group of pellet production the selection criteria were chosen with respect to: production rate and costs; specific cost of investment, quality standard, technical integration, logistic integration.

Three production cases Bobrowo, Poland ; Juupajoki, Finland; SkellefteĆ„, Sweden

For the group consumption the selection criteria were chosen with respect to: motivation; size and consumption; cost reduction compared with fossil fuel; cost of investment; satisfaction; potential for local replication of enlargement.

Pellet combustion cases : Polish school; European Theater School, Denmark; Estonian School

Finally the group logistic was evaluated with respect to: Integration; efficient handling; marketing; added value at low cost; product range

Logistic case: Stadlober Brennstoffe, Austria ; GENOL, Austria
